Report driving document offences
Before driving any vehicle that is registered in the United Kingdom, you must have a valid driving licence, insurance, tax and MOT.
Vehicles without tax
If you believe a vehicle has no road tax and has not been declared as off the road (SORN), you must report it to the DVLA.
Vehicles without an MOT or insurance
If you have seen a vehicle being used, or parked in a public space with no MOT or insurance, you can report it to the police.
To make a report, you will need the vehicle’s:
- number plate (registration number)
- location
Visit the GOV.UK website for more information about vehicle tax, MOTs and insurance, where you can also check the MOT status of a vehicle.
Drivers without a driving licence
It is an offence to drive a vehicle on a road without a full, valid driving licence unless the driver is a learner with a provisional licence and has supervision. Further details on driving licences can be found on the GOV.UK website.
