Registering for Community Alerts
Avon and Somerset Police’s Community Alerts system allows registered users to receive alerts regarding community schemes and watches.

We are moving to a new Community Alerts system. This will give you the same functions as the current system but with an updated look and feel, similar to our website and other applications.
Watches that are affected by this change:
Moving to the new system
We will send a series of alert messages to our existing subscribers, through the old system. You can expect to receive:
- a pre-invitation message – to notify you that we are moving to a new system and that you will be securely contacted, by us, with information on how to register
- an invitation message – next, you will receive an invitation to register on our new system
- reminder messages – there will be a 90 day window to register your new account before the old system is removed. We will send two reminder messages within this window
After receiving these, you will need to securely register your details on our new system to continue receiving alerts from us.
Registration steps
You will be taken to the new system, where you will be asked to register your details, following the steps below.
-
Step 1 :
In your previous notification, you will be provided with a link to our new system, where you are asked to enter your email address.
We will need to use this email address to verify your identity, so you will need to have access to the emails on that account. This will also be your login when accessing your Community Alerts account.
Once entered, you will be sent a verification email and details on completing your registration.
Emails from Avon and Somerset Police may not appear in your main inbox – make sure to check your junk and spam folders.
-
Step 2 :
Once your email has been verified, you will be asked to enter your name and address.
The address entered on this section should be for your home address. You can set the locations to receive alerts for later in this process.
-
Step 3 :
Next, you will be asked how you would like to receive alerts from us and where you would like to receive them for.
You have the ability to add alerts for multiple locations individually, if required.
In this section, you are able to set if you are a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator and if so, which schemes this is for.
-
Step 4 :
After setting your preferences and confirming your details are correct, you can submit your registration.
Then you will be taken to our confirmation page and receive an email confirming that your account has been created.
This page also includes details on how to manage your account details and preferences going forward.
Managing your account
You can update your account details and preferences at any time through your account summary.
However, if you need to change your home address, you will need to delete your account, located in your account summary, and create a new one.
Unsubscribing or deleting your account
- Subscribers – if you do not wish to continue receiving alerts, you do not need to complete the registration form. But, if you have already registered, you can delete your account through your account summary. You will then no longer receive alerts.
- Neighbourhood Watch coordinators – contact the Watch admins to unsubscribe. This will allow the admins to update their records and find an alternative coordinator for these locations.
Issues with registering
If you have any issues with registering on the new system, you can contact the Watch admins:
- For Neighbourhood Watch, email alerts@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
- For Horse or Farm Watch, email ruralandwildlifeunit@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
You can also provide your feedback on Community Alerts registration process.
