Date of request: 27 September 2020
Reference: 962/21

Request

I am requesting the following information under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act; shift patterns used by the following police officers and members of police staff.

  • Response Officers
  • Neighbourhood Officers
  • Custody Sergeants
  • Traffic Officers
  • Dog Officers
  • CID Officers
  • Control Room/Call Centre Staff
  • Enquiry Office Staff
  • Detention Officers
  • Specialist Officers

Response

Please find attached a breakdown of information we have identified in relation to your request.

The shift patterns are for based upon one member of staff/officer for each department. Staff are rostered within five teams to ensure that all operational departments are covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please be aware that these are default shift patterns and can be subject to change. If demand changes due to planned / unplanned operational reasons, the shift patterns will be different to the timings provided. In the same vein, should an incident take place which requires officers to remain at the scene, they will work beyond the hours set out in the attachment and receive overtime. It should also be noted that many officers / staff work ‘flexible working hours’ within the constabulary. Therefore the attached may be used as guidance for the hours required, and are not definitive working times.
