… would like to make a Freedom of Information request in relation to the 400,000 lost Police records from the national computer
- We would like to know how many of these records which have disappeared are from or in relation to Avon and Somerset Police.
- Also, how many Avon and Somerset Police cases this has affected.
Response
All searches, reviews and any subsequent information surrounding this incident has been carried out by the Home Office at a national level.
We have now been made aware, by the Home Office, that the aforementioned incident has not had any impact on records uploaded to the Police National Computer (PNC) by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
Whilst some biometric data was initially lost from Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s records, these have since been recovered, therefore no cases have been compromised.
