Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Shoplifting

The Bournville and Oldmixon One Team are committed to preventing and detecting crime. The area we police has many retail/commercial premises which results in a high demand of shoplifting offences being reported in the area.

Actions

  • Thursday 31st October, 2019

To help reduce the amount of incidents, the team’s aims are to:

    • Increase patrols/visibility around our retail premises
    • Target known offenders with stop searches
    • Refer known offenders to other services
    • Team up with other agencies to deter theft
    • Use problem solving techniques to unpick why offenders are offending and if referrals to other agencies can assist with this
    • Work alongside retail premises in regards to security and stock placement
    • Look at putting in a storenet system to enable different premises and agencies to share intelligence and pre-warn when offenders are in the area
    • Arrest and educate offenders
    • Make use of Criminal behaviour Orders
