Speed of Vehicles along Station Road, Rodney Road, Church Lane is of concern and will be addressed in Partnership with the local Council, Community Speed Watch and Police.


  • Sunday 5th January, 2020

    This priority remains relevant and forms part of the day to day priorities of the Beat Team.

    Specific days of action took place before Christmas 2019, targeting speeding vehicles and drink driving.

  • Wednesday 16th October, 2019

    Road Safety continues to be a priority in Backwell and Wrington.

    The Beat Team have raised a Problem Solving Plan to address Road safety across the Beat area working in partnership with Local Businesses, The Council and other partner agencies.

  • Tuesday 3rd September, 2019

    Local Junior Schools will be approached in the new school year with regards to Road Safety Education lessons.

  • Saturday 31st August, 2019

    Specific Targeted Patrols have taken place to monitor Speed of Traffic entering Backwell area.

  • Friday 23rd August, 2019

    Duties in support of our Community Speed Watch Partners have been conducted across the Beat Area and positive visits undertaken with repeat offenders to educate same.

  • Sunday 30th June, 2019

    There has been an increase in parking issues around schools within Backwell. As such Backwell Beat Team will be addressing the matter on the lead up to the School Summer Holidays and again at the start of the new school year.

  • Monday 25th February, 2019

    The situation continues to be monitored by Beat Team Staff and Community Speed Watch promoted within the affected villages.

  • Saturday 12th January, 2019
    • Proactive patrols of schools parking issues continues within the Beat Area in addition to Speed enforcement checks at identified locations. To date approximately 2% of road users are found to be committing offences.
    • There has been no formal update to date. As Such Beat Team will be speaking with our colleagues at Bristol Airport and will update this media in due course.

    The Beat Team have actively worked with local schools to address this matter and will be communicating with Parents in the new year.
