Victim Information Pack
Being a victim of crime or witnessing an incident can be stressful and upsetting. The Victim Information Pack (VIP) is designed to help you understand what happens after you have reported a crime.
The pack is provided to all victims of crime and explains what happens once you have reported a crime and provides information on the various services available to help support victims.
The Victim Information Pack includes details about:
- what happens after you have reported a crime
- what you can expect from the police
- how to ask for an update on your case, or give us an update
- support available to you, including information about our Lighthouse Safeguarding Unit
- the Victims’ Code – what it is, who can use it and how to make a complaint if you feel your rights have not been met
- types of victims
- making a Victim Personal Statements (VPS)
- the Victims’ Right to Review – what it is, who can use it and how to appeal a decision
- going to court – what to expect and support available
- alternatives to going to court, such as Restorative Justice
- the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme – what it is and when it can be used
- the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme – what it is and when it can be used
- how to tell us about the service you have recieved
- how to contact us, CrimeStoppers, Lighthouse Victim Care and other support organisations.
