Police Ranks

Police officers are ranked in accordance with their seniority within the force and their rank can usually be identified by looking at symbol on the epaulettes on the shoulder of their uniform.

The following sections show the different ranks within the areas of our force and are ordered from the lowest rank on the left, to the highest on the right.

Please note: Any of these below Assistant Chief Constable should be preceded by Detective if the officer is within the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
